“Captain Swashby loved the sea. The sea and he had been friends for a long, long time. She knew him in and out, up and down, and better than anyone.”

But what happens to the Captain of the El Recluso when he leaves his only friend the sea for retirement? The ocean comes to play matchmaker between them; the reluctant, reclusive Captain Swashby and his new neighbors.

It is a sweet story of unlikely friends who become family. It warmed my heart to read this book. I loved the illustrations and dreamed of seaside villages to visit while reading this book.
