Howard B. Wigglebottom and the Power of Giving: A Christmas Story by Howard Binkow and Susan F. Cornelison is a sweet picture book about a bunny that is more concerned with getting than giving on Christmas. His self-centered view gets him into some trouble when he doesn’t follow his parent’s instructions and becomes lost. When he tries to find his way back home he experiences loneliness, hunger, and cold more than he ever has before. He starts to realize just how much he truly has. This book does refer to Santa, Howard makes a wish to Santa and his friends along the way write to “Santa Bunny.”

This little picture book with a cute “Santa Bunny” on the cover has a lot of lessons that are learned and talking points for your little ones. I appreciated the last few pages that has a “Lessons and Reflections” section. It includes subjects like talking to strangers, homelessness, paying attention to stay out of trouble, learning to share, and the happiness of giving among others. It’s also a good opportunity to talk about what you should actually do if you’re lost. (Don’t try to find your way home!)

I think this is a great addition to your Christmas Book collection and helps us all to remember that Christmas isn’t just about toys and gifts!
