The Dead Sea Squirrels is a fun early chapter book series that is character-driven. Each book starts with a bible verse and you can bet the characters will encounter a situation that puts that biblical virtue to the test. The main characters are 2 adventurous boys (and in later books 1 girl) who find themselves in silly predicaments.
There are illustrations on each page to help kids bridge the gap between traditional picture books and chapter books. This is exactly the kind of book my son loves. He was excited to read it just from the cover and I was excited to read it with him and know that it is truly a safe book for kids!
This would be a great read-aloud for young children ages 4-6 and a wonderful independent read for 7-9.
