Bear and the Whisper of the Wind by Marianne Dubuc for PA Press is a slow, sweet book. In a world that is sometimes too intense for our little ones I really enjoyed sharing this book with my daughter. The classic color pencil and watercolor illustrations were still beautiful and captivating yet calming at the same time.

As Bear feels the wind change he knows it’s time to move on. Move from the forest, different house, different friends, different feelings and emotions. It was sweet for my daughter and I to try to practice empathy with this book. We talked about what Bear must be feeling is he excited, scared, nervous, or lonely? He goes through many of these emotions as he finds a new home.

I recommend this sweet read for a low stimulation reading time. It might also be good for anyone experiencing a move in their own life.
